HIMIG wins GOLD at the

2026 World Peace Choral Festival

On July 26, 2026, HIMIG received the Golden award in the College Choir Category at the 15th World Peace Choral Festival in Vienna, Austria. They also received distinction for Excellent Performance of Folk and National Music.

HKCS extends special thanks to the World Peace Choral Festival and its organizers, including Professor Mag.art. Alois Glaßner, Professor Lingfen Wu, Erasmus Baumgartner, Professor Dr. Stephen Mark Darlington MBM, Professor Basilio Astúlez, and Professor Dr. hab. Agnieska Franków-Źelazny.

Congratulations to our conductor Matthew Perez, who, in view of his achievement and contribution to the music and education, was invited to be a member of the Artistic Committee of the World Peace Choral Festival for coming 5 years.

On behalf of all the members of the Himig Kabataan Cultural Society, our hearts go out to those affected by the tragic incident at the Lapu-Lapu Day Festival. We offer our prayers for the repose of the souls who have passed, and we extend our deepest condolences to their loved ones. We also pray for the health, healing, and comfort of those who have been injured or traumatized. The Lapu-Lapu Block Party was created to honor Datu Lapu-Lapu and to symbolize cultural harmony in British Columbia. Our choir, composed of second and third generation Filipino-Canadian teens, embrace and share the Filipino culture through music and art. As Filipinos, we stand together, support one another, and mourn together especially through difficult times like this.
